Guitarist Gabe Stivala performs and records with several Sacramento-area ensembles, including the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera Jazz Trio, Cahersiveen Celtic band, and jazz/funk quintet Space Junk. He has also been invited to perform with the Sacramento Philharmonic orchestra for its Pops Series under the baton of Stuart Chafetz.
Born and raised in Little Falls, New York, Gabe eventually headed to warmer climes and to pursue a degree in Geology from the University of Miami. He was heavily involved in the Miami music scene, performing in jazz, funk, and rock bands and was the lead guitarist for well-known 90s Miami bands, such as the Crosstown Chameleons and A.J. and the Stick People.
In the mid-90s Gabe traveled west, landing in San Francisco where he studied music at San Francisco State University. Over the course of more than a decade, he lived and performed in the City, delving into the SF jazz world and eventually creating his own ensemble, the Gabe Stivala Quartet. He now lives in Roseville and enjoys life with his family in the Greater Sacramento area.
